RMS and Mathematics Test For Class VI- Tips to Prepare By colonel Jayavel

"Mathematics is a Scoring subject"

This is true to only those students who have understood its fundamental and have worked out various examples to strengthen their base.

Let us see the basic operations involved in Arithmetic.

It consists of just 4 Main operations, namely
a) Addition
b) Subtraction
c) Multiplication
d) Division

In order to develop a speed of working there are various methods. Each has its one limitation

Abacus-  This will help you to increase the speed of calculation. But it will not teach you logical approach.

Vedic Maths: May not be suitable for boys of age 10 as it requires a higher order of thinking and one must have basic knowledge about various operations. ( this is essential when the digits gets larger)

Now coming to down to basics of Arithmetic.

First of all one must be through in tables. ( say 2 to 20- By heart it. for you will not be allowed to use a calculator in any of the competitive examination)

In order to gain speed in calculation, the trick is to solve at least 100 sums, a combination of
addition, multiplication, subtraction and division. The time should be gradually reduced from say 1 hour to just 10 to 15 minutes.

The examples:-
Time 5 minutes

1. 123 x 7 =
2. 888 divided by 4
3. add 908 + 87
4. sub 87 - 18
5. 1000 divided by 5
6. 86 x 12
7. 283 + 108
8. 90- 11
9. 73 x 17
10. 284 + 734

Simple is it not.
but the time for this is just 30 seconds for each

There are a number of website which allows you to practice
one such web site is
thatquiz.com

This site is good enough to learn various operations
